DANCE

foam, cosmic dust, and silver
5 x 5 x 1/2 inches

Estonian jewelry artist Tanel Veenre is known for his poetic, conceptual, and “mellow-sensual” pieces. The necklace is formed to look like a string of rockets, and each element is coated with one of Veenre’s favorite materials – cosmic dust, or tiny particles of comets and asteroids from outer space. In this sense, Dance suggests the optimism and fear of not being alone in the universe. Veerne received his BA and MA from the Metal Art Department at the Estonian Academy of Arts. He also studied jewelry design at Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Veenre has exhibited his works in more than 200 solo and group exhibitions around the world. He has lectured and given workshops in Estonia, New Zealand, Brazil, China, Scotland, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Israel, Sweden, Chile, Taiwan, Thailand, Mexico, and Germany. He is represented by galleries in Sweden, the U.S., New Zealand, the Netherlands, Latvia, and Brazil.
