JUST ANOTHER

2012
acrylic and latex on wood panel

There is a fascinating energy in the paintings of Emilio Perez. His expressive and immediate brushwork is wonderfully framed by carefully cutting around each mark, revealing a cool cosmic background. In Just Another, Perez creates a mysterious biomorphic form influenced simultaneously by the Baroque style, graphic novels, and woodcuts. As a result, the painting presents a renewed and cutting edge exploration of classical form. Perez lives and works in New York. His work has been exhibited internationally and has been collected by Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo; Fundación ARCOmadrid; Arkansas Art Center, Little Rock; Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation, Los Angeles; and Miami Art Museum.
