Liza Lacroix

oil on canvas
67 x 60 1/2 inches

Liza Lacroix pushes bright colors across her large canvases, combining the paints to construct earthy hues that recall landscapes. In this work, the theatricality and physicality of Lacroix’s process reveals itself in the gestures of white and black as well as the rose-colored upper left corner that suggests a sunrise or sunset. Lacroix has worked with oil paints since she was a child, painting with her grandmother. She studied painting in Ontario, Florence, Montreal, and London, and co-founded NUT, an all-women’s annual art publication, and MAW Projects, New York.
