TM Davy

SELF PORTRAIT

2017
oil on linen
18 x 14 inches

TM Davy’s oil paintings rely on intimate scenes directly connected to the artist’s life. Past subjects include images of the artist and his lover Liam, friends and domestic scenes lit by candlelight, and images of horses inspired by a distant relative who owned a stable. In this recent self-portrait, the artist turns to look at the viewer, lit with a warm interior light. The brightly striped garment adds a sensuous touch to the work, framing Davy’s face and undulating over his shoulders. Davy’s work has been included in group exhibitions at Tate Modern, London; Centro Galego de Arte Contemporanea; and Galeria Fortes Vilaca, São Paolo, among others.
