For over two decades, ultramarine blue has played an important role in the abstract works of Katsuyoshi Inokuma. The artist subtly modulates the color by laying down contrasting hues underneath or by mixing coffee grounds in to add texture. As with many of his works, In Blue Jul ’16 features a composition that is dynamic and vibrating, yet quiet and controlled. The result is a deeply moving, expansive field that radiates off the canvas. Inokuma has exhibited his work throughout Japan.
